Woman in Mid-Birth Sets Confusing Start to Beauty Pageant

Organizers of the 2025 Tri-County Fairest Blossom Pageant were forced to delay opening ceremonies Saturday evening after a contestant appeared to be in active labor during the national anthem.

Witnesses say the woman, identified only as “Sherri M.,” walked onstage in a sequined gown, heels, and a visibly contracting uterus. Pageant staff initially mistook the pained grimace for “intense stage presence.”

“She was really committed to her character,” said one judge. “We assumed it was part of her talent routine.”

Confusion deepened when Sherri calmly introduced herself as “a proud mother of three—almost four—and part-time dental receptionist,” before squatting near the edge of the stage and requesting a towel and boiling water.

Despite the clear signs of labor, pageant protocol required organizers to finish the opening dance number before intervening.

“She met all eligibility criteria,” said lead coordinator Trina Wallace. “Unmarried, aged 18–29, and a permanent resident of the county. Technically, she hadn’t given birth yet.”

The pageant resumed approximately 47 minutes later, with the newborn scoring a perfect 10 in “unexpected showmanship” and a tentative invitation to compete in next year’s toddler division.

At press time, mother and child were resting comfortably behind the refreshments table, where judges were seen deliberating whether to award “Miss Congeniality” or “Most Dilated.”
