Study: Bed Bugs Powerful Tool for Those Trying to Remain Abstinent

In a surprising twist on public health strategy, researchers at the National Institute of Behavioral Discipline have identified bed bug infestations as “one of the most effective deterrents to sexual activity available in modern society.”

The findings, published in the Journal of Itchy Ethics, reveal that individuals exposed to even mild infestations reported a 98% drop in libido, a 100% drop in bed-sharing, and a strong desire to never make physical contact with another human again.

“For those trying to maintain abstinence—whether for moral, religious, or deeply logistical reasons—bed bugs are proving to be a powerful ally,” said lead researcher Dr. Caleb Wentz. “They create a natural boundary to intimacy, along with several dozen red welts and a lingering sense of shame.”

Participants in the study were reportedly placed in simulated New York studio apartments for a period of 30 days. Each space contained a queen mattress, a vintage lamp, and an “undisclosed number” of Cimex lectularius. Within 48 hours, all participants had:

  • Sworn off dating apps
  • Canceled every social engagement
  • Begun sleeping on a towel inside their car

“I’ve never felt more focused,” said subject 104B, who described himself as “formerly very horny.” “Bed bugs took away my distractions, my temptations, and most of my skin oils. I’m finally free.”

Though the CDC has yet to endorse the practice officially, insiders say “bio-barrier abstinence therapy” may become part of comprehensive sex ed programs as early as 2026—alongside cold showers and the occasional Bible verse.

At press time, researchers were also investigating whether ultrasonic pest repellers like this affordable 6-pack could double as chastity-enhancing white noise generators.
